A Moment with Daniel Johnson II

At 17 years old, most teens are still trying to figure out what they really want to be in life. Some have a plan, while others may still be enjoying their childhood, chasing girls, etc. Daniel Johnson II, known by most as “DJ”, is one of the few that has his stuff together. He decided at a young age that he wanted to stand for something and set his goals high and now he can be seen in both print and on the big screen.

What city do you represent and where are you located now?
I represent the city Indianapolis but I live in Los Angeles, California.

When did you get into the entertainment industry and what where you doing when you got in it?
I got into the entertainment industry when I was 14 and I was acting in music videos and doing background for TV shows.

How old were you when you started and how old are you now?
I was 8 when I started modeling and rapping, at 14 I got into acting and now I’m 17.

When did you know you wanted to become an actor?
When I was around 11 years old.

Starting so young and doing what you have, you must have a strong support system. Who are the people behind your career and what’s their role?
My mom (Jill Mansfield) is the person behind my career. She is my manager.

Did you find it hard juggling school and acting?
Yes, I find it hard to do both.

Your kind of short, does your height play apart in anything you tried to do?
Not really, but sometimes they want tall models, or have a certain height they are looking at for a role

Other than acting what is some of your other passions?
Basketball and music.

You have done quite a lot in such a short time. What has been your best and worse job so far?
My best job was the worldwide NBA commercial “possible “with Isaiah Thomas, I don’t have a worst.

I am in a movie called “Funny Man” where I have a lead role as Young Chuckles, and a small role in the movie “On the Line” which is still in production.

Who are some big names you have had the honor of working with?
Michael B. Jordan, Tyga, Snoop Dogg, Isaiah Thomas, Craig Robinson, Wendy Raquel, and Grace.

Seen your NBA commercial. Are you athletic at all and what’s your favorite sport?
Yes, I’m athletic and my favorite sport is basketball.

I understand you model, act, dance and rap? Which one is your favorite out of all of them?
Acting is my favorite.

Who are some companies or brands you have modeled for?
“G” by Guess, Pelle Pelle, True Religion.

When you look at your career where do you think you want to go with it next?
I would definitely like to get bigger roles in more movies.

What’s your ideal role?
My ideal role is a lead starring role with action or comedy.

Now you’re getting older and done more in your career. How do you keep from getting distracted by the ladies? 
Well I try and stay busy with acting and school as much as possible. Besides that, I own a shoe business called Master Kicks (@Masterkicks2000) and help out in the community from time to time.

What are your top five goals over the next 5 years?
Film a movie that makes it to theaters, Star in a TV show, start a clothing brand, Graduate from college, and to become a millionaire.

If there was one person you would love to work with who would it be and why?
Denzel Washington, so I can learn a lot more about acting!

What are your 5 favorite things to do?
Acting, Play basketball, Watch NBA games, Workout, go swimming.

For all little kids wanting to follow in your tracks, what would you say to them?
Stay Hungry and Humble.

If you were granted 3 wishes, what would they be?
To Earn a Oscar Award, be a billionaire and own a TV network.
