Rolling Out Cover Conversations Featuring Tisha Campbell

Atlanta, GA – On Saturday, September 19, 2026, actress, comedian, and author Tisha Campbell stopped by Rolling Out headquarters for “Rolling Out Cover Conversations” Cover Reveal + Book Release. Hosted by comedian and actress Pretty Vee, she and Tisha discussed Tisha’s career, being a mother, and her new book release, “The A Word: A Mother’s Journey Through Autism And Love”.

TISHA ON LEARNING OF HER SON’S AUTISM DIAGNOSIS ON THE SET OF MY WIFE AND KIDS
“I’m the kind of person that doesn’t show or bring my problems to work so after I collapsed on the floor (my legs gave out), I ran up to the makeup room. I washed my face real quick. Walked out onto the stage for rehearsal and pretended like nothing ever happened.

One of the reasons why I did that, you guys, was because I had thee most amazing boss in the world, Damon Wayans. Damon created the most family friendly amazing atmosphere and I wanted to uphold that. I felt like as #2 on the call sheet, as his partner on the show, I felt it was important that I keep my own problems away from him because he had so much on his plate and he had such a great environment, I just felt it was my duty.”

TISHA ON PARENTS WHO ARE QUESTIONING WHETHER THEIR CHILDREN ARE ON THE SPECTRUM OR NOT
“It’s really important to accept the diagnosis because time is not on your side, especially if you’re black. Time is not on your side because you have to think early intervention as soon as possible. Now, you can accept the diagnosis. You don’t have to accept the label. You don’t have to do that, no matter where they lie on the spectrum and the spectrum there’s like three levels. There’s level three which is you need a lot of support. You may be non-verbal, not potty trained, all of those things. You may not even be able to walk right. So, you may need a lot of help.

Level two is where you need a moderate amount of help. Right? Level ones are harder to see because they meet all the milestones so they may need hidden support. Like they might need earphones because things come at them too loudly or stuff like that. So, level one, they don’t appear to be on the spectrum, but they are.”
