Indianapolis Music Producer Found Guilty in Murder Trial

INDIANAPOLIS – Local music producer Carlton Hart, who was previously cleared of one death, was convicted Thursday in another murder that happened in his recording studio.

In November 2012, Thomas Keys, 22, was shot and killed in Hart’s recording studio in Indianapolis. Another man was also shot and was able to get away, fleeing to a nearby pharmacy for help.

The shooting was apparently in retaliation for a prior shooting, in which one of Hart’s relatives was killed.

Thursday in Marion County, Hart was convicted of murder, criminal confinement and conspiracy to commit criminal confinement.

Hart is the fourth person to be convicted in connection with the incident, and two other suspects will go on trial May 12.

Hart’s sentencing has been scheduled for April 4 at 12:30 p.m.
