Words + Interview By Lucky Smith

How is Hollywood, FL different from Hollywood, CA? How is it similar?
Everything in Hollywood, California is more expensive than Hollywood, Florida . Also In Hollywood, Florida people move at a slower pace than Hollywood, California. As far as the industry, there are more opportunities in Hollywood, California.

What type of modeling do you enjoy most (print, runway, film)?
I enjoy runway slightly more than print work.

When walking the runway, what mindset do you have and what do you focus on?
When walking the runway my mindset is free. I’m just going with the flow.

What has been your favorite commercial that you’ve appeared in to date and why?
I’ve been on several national and international commercials but I have to say my favorite one was Volkswagen 2017 which I shot alongside the legendary Willie Nelson.

How has transitioning into acting been for you? Is it something you always wanted to do or did it just happen?
Hmmm, that’s a great question. Transitioning into the acting industry was not like it just happened because I was auditioning and attending acting classes for a while.

You’ve appeared in ABC’s “Fresh Off The Boat”. What is the show about and what did you enjoy most about filming during that series?
Fresh Off The Boat is about a family migrating to America . What I enjoyed the most is basically I had the opportunity to film a show on Fox. Hello!? Yassss!

Tell us about the film, “Always & 4Ever” and your role as Young Sommer.
Always & 4Ever is a feature film that was released in theaters nationwide. It is about four young girls that make the biggest mistake of their lives while in middle school. As adults, their past catches up to them.

Did you get the opportunity to work with Loretta Devine? If so, what did you learn from her?
Yasss, I’m really excited about that and there are some great people I got to co-star alongside her like Lauren London and Robbie Jones. I got some nice tips from Ms. Loretta Devine. She is such a talented veteran actress.

In your opinion, what is the biggest misconception about the entertainment business?
Sometimes you find a few rude people and also you’re afraid of too many rejections.

What kind of advice could you give anyone wanting to become a model or an actress?
If that is what you really want, go for it and enjoy! Most of all, walk that walk, baby!

What types of challenges have you faced in your career and how have you overcome them?
So far, I can’t say I’ve faced any challenges, thank God. Everything is going good.

Name your favorite and explain why:

A.     Film Now You See Me because I wish I could do magic tricks.

B.     Model – Naomi Campbell because I feel like she has one of the strongest and unique walks.

C.     Song/Artist – As of right now, I’m really loving the band Pretty Much and my favorite song right now is Spice Girl by Aminé because it’s really dope.

D.     Actor – Jessica Lange because I love horror films and shows.  She stars in one of my favorite TV shows, American Horror Story and she portrays all of her characters so well.

E.     Food – I’m in loveeee with Haitian food because of the flavor and it tastes different from any other type of food.

What can you tell us about your experience in Haiti? Is there anything you learned about it that you didn’t know prior?
That was my first time in Haiti. I enjoyed it to the fullest, from drinking the purest coconut water to eating fresh grilled lobster and conch on the beach to listening to the troubadour band playing for us while eating. It was nice meeting my mom’s extended family and I was very happy to see my grandma.  It was nice to reunite and be received with lots of love! Also, it was fun when we went to the suburbs seeing the people behind motorcycles and all the little kids with big smiles on their faces even though they don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Also I donated some clothes to kids less fortunate.

I’m going to throw a few names out there. Say whatever comes to mind.
