Netflix Releases Trailer For Cyntoia Brown Documentary. Cyntoia Says Doc is Unauthorized.

Cyntoia was the subject of a documentary titled, “Me Facing Life: Cyntoia’s Story” in 2011 and it caught our attention after it was mentioned on one of Nashville’s local news stations and we have been following her story since. She was granted clemency in August of 2019 by former TN governor Bill Haslam after serving 15 years of a life sentence for killing Johnny Allen, a 43 year old real estate agent in Nashville. She was 16 at the time and said she was a sex trafficking victim. Allen had picked her up to have sex in exchange for money, as told by investigators. The story went viral again after Rihanna and a few other celebrities posted about her around 2017.

Netflix has released a documentary on her that she says is unauthorized and did not participate in. The news came from her directly via her Twitter account. She says she is working on something of her own that will tell her story the right way. She has also gotten married. See her post and Netflix’s documentary trailer below.
